Wassail is a traditional holiday drink, but is delicious all winter long. A delicious stand-by in many homes over the years, it is a great alternative to alcoholic beverages to warm up those cold, blustery months. Made on the stove top, or, in a slow-cooker (such as a Crock-Pot), it is not only fast and easy, but stays warm and delicious for hours. In fact, the longer it simmers, the more the flavors blend together and create a spicy, citrus delight!
Combine all ingredients into a large pot on the stove and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
DO NOT let mixture come to a boil.
Strain the drink before serving if the spices are floating.
Notes
Please note that nutrition facts are subject to change based on your choice of ingredients. It saves time to tie your spices in a small piece of cheese cloth so you don't have to strain the punch. You may also prepare the wassail bowl punch in a slow cooker. If you do, combine your ingredients and heat on high until the mixture is hot, but not boiling. Then reduce the setting to low.
