We All Scream for Boozy Berry Ice Cream

One of my favorite things to do in the summertime is to make homemade ice cream, like this Boozy Berry Ice Cream.

Enjoying some delicious ice cream fresh out of the ice cream maker is just perfection – especially when it also has a bit of wine in it like this recipe. It’s spiked with a touch of your favorite white wine.

Enjoy some boozy berry ice cream

Growing up, my grandfather used to make a batch of fresh banana ice cream several times during the summer.

It became a tradition, and I’m happy to keep it going making homemade ice cream whenever I get a chance. I wonder what he’d think of this recipe?

And while I’m always nostalgic for my grandfather’s recipe, I do love mixing things up a bit and trying other ways to make homemade ice cream.

And sometimes we need some good old fashioned boozy ice cream. Well, this may not be old-fashioned, but it’s definitely not Carrie Nation’s ice cream.

We’ve got your ice cream! And you can have some.

Homemade boozy berry ice cream, that is! And it’s good!

Making homemade ice cream is easy

The key to making good homemade ice cream is to use quality, fresh ingredients.

Make sure that you’ve blended everything very well, and give it plenty of time to chill.

This recipe for boozy berry ice cream doesn’t require any complicated or difficult to find ingredients, and it goes together quickly.

It’s a perfect homemade ice cream to enjoy on a hot day. We also really love serving it for Memorial Day picnics, Father’s Day cookouts, and backyard barbecues on the Fourth of July.

But truthfully, it’s always tasty no matter when you serve it.

What you need:

I can find these ingredients at my local grocery store. I also sometimes order my Sparkling Ice from Amazon.

I enjoy the convenience of having bulky grocery items shipped to my home.

Ingredients

32 ounces fresh strawberries, sliced
2 cups buttermilk
¼ cup Sparkling Ice Pomegranate Blueberry
¼ cup sugar
¼ cup white wine
½ teaspoon fine sea salt

You will also need a blender or food processor, a measuring cup, and an ice cream maker.

Note: If you don’t have fresh strawberries, you may substitute frozen strawberries.

If you don’t have buttermilk, you can also make it easily yourself with plain milk and a little acid like lemon juice or vinegar. Here’s a tutorial on how to make homemade buttermilk.

Instructions:

Puree all ingredients together until smooth.

Pour into an ice cream maker until solid.

Serve immediately or place into the freezer for later.

You can make it without the wine too!

Can you make this boozy recipe without wine? You sure can!

If you like the sound of the boozy berry ice cream without the booze, you can easily make it without the wine. There are a couple of ways to modify the recipe.

  • Replace the 1/4 cup white wine with an additional 1/4 (for a total of 3/4 cups) of the Sparkling Ice Pomegranate Blueberry. Or…
  • Replace the 1/4 cup white wine with 1/4 cup sparkling grape juice, ginger ale, or lemon-lime soda.
