One of my favorite things about this Slow Cooker Fireball & Red Hots Spiced Apple Cider is how flexible it is.

This tasty treat can easily be enjoyed by children and adults alike since it begins as a mocktail and is essentially spiked.

That’s right! You make this drink with Red Hots candies! They melt and give such great flavor and gorgeous color to the drink.
  • 1.5 Qts. Apple Juice
  • 1/4 C Red Hots Candy
  • Optional: 1/2 tsp Nutmeg (omit if serving anyone who is allergic)
  • 1 Orange, sliced
  • Optional: 1 C Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey

Do I have to use Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey in the drink?

You may spike the drink with the whiskey of your choice.

But we really like using Fireball in this recipe because it adds an intense cinnamon flavor profile.

If you’d rather have a little less of the cinnamon taste but want to still use the Fireball, reduce the amount of Red Hots candies you use by half.

They will still impart some flavor and the gorgeous color, but it will be a little less so.

Can you make this drink without alcohol?

Yes.

It’s easy to serve this drink as a cocktail and without alcohol.

Since you add the whiskey at the end after the drink has cooled a bit, simply omit adding the Fireball to your alcohol-free drinks, and add 1 oz of whiskey to the mugs for those who want to enjoy the drink as a hot toddy.

How to make Spiced Cider with Red Hots and Fireball Whiskey

Pre-Step: If you like to make clean-up easy, line your slow cooker with a plastic liner. It makes clean-up go really quickly.

Turn your slow cooker on high.

Then once it begins to warm, turn the temperature setting to low.

Pour the apple juice into the slow cooker.

Add your Red Hots candies to the slow cooker and stir until they are melted.

They should dissolve completely, changing the color of the beverage to a nice red-orange color.

Add Nutmeg.

Replace the crock pot’s lid and simmer for 1 hour.

About 15 minutes before serving, add the orange slices to the slow cooker.

To serve without alcohol, simply pour into a mug, and add an orange slice and a few Red Hots candies.

To serve with alcohol, pour 1 oz of Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey to the mug.

Then fill the mug with your spiced cider and add an orange slice and a few Red Hots.

My wife made some of this in the crock pot over the weekend, and it was really tasty. We drank all of it watching the game.
